Staying Safe Online
1. Never tell anyone your passwords, no matter who they are or what reason they give. Administrators do not need your password to access your account. Friends should create their own account, don't le them 'borrow' yours. There is NEVER ANY REASON to share your password. Report any attempts to ZA Leaders, and block the person trying to gain access to your accounts.
2. Never tell anyone your CD/product key for any online game (especially Halo), no matter what story/threat/blackmail they try to convince you with. Report any attempts to ZA Leaders and block the person trying to get your CD/product key.
3. Never use your real name on any publicly viewable profiles, such as Xfire. Do not post any personal information that is publicly viewable, such as age, gender, address, or school. Do not give out your Facebook, phone number, or email address to anyone you meet online unless you have been friends with them for a significant amount of time and fully trust them. Do not post pictures of yourself publicly.
4. If you are not a legal adult yet, be weary of anyone that shows flirtatious, romantic, or sexual interest in you. Be weary of anyone who refuses to give their age or other identifiable information. Report any incidents to ZA Leaders and block the person.
5. Be weary of anyone online who knows information about you but refuses to tell you information about them, or makes you guess who they are. Report any issues to ZA Leaders and block the person.
6. Do not accept friend requests from people you do not know. If you feel you need to accept the request, ask them who they are - if you do not know them, delete the person. If you are an admin and add many people for application reasons, perform the interview, post it, and if the person is NOT accepted, feel free to delete them after.
7. Be weary of any person who requests you to be friends that has just created a new account or has very few friends on their friends list. You can view the date the account was created as well as their friends list on their profile page.
8. Be weary of any person who forms an attatchment to you that makes you uncomfortable. Examples are: telling you very personal secrets/problems; giving you high praise or compliments; telling you that age does not matter, etc. If you are ever unsure of a person you are speaking to, it is better to be safe than sorry. Report any concerns to ZA Leaders.
9. If you are ever threatened in any way, report the issue to ZA Leaders and block the person.
10. If you have any questions or concerns about your privacy, if someone is making you uncomfortable, harrasing you, or is suspicious, talk to a ZA Leader as soon as possible. You don't have to deal with the issue alone. We are here to help you stay safe online. |
