There's something on my mind that I keep thinking about. Human bodies have electrical impulses in the body that controls bodily functions. The earth too has a magnetic field. My idea was that so called paranormal activity, is a result of those electrical impulses being influenced by earth's magnetic field that leaves in imprint on an area.maybe feelings of dread about places or people is just influence from electrical impulses. Maybe "psychics" are really just people more in tune with as said before electrical impulses, but it's subtle so it's not like we go crazy from power lines and all that.
This is just an idea that I thought I'd share. Since I'm not a physicist or biologist I can't really explain this theory well, though I'm sure others have. The gist of this is that there really is no such thing as paranormal activity, but rather influences from bio - electric impulses. We're simply spooked by this, but even advanced technology like 3d printers seem like magic too. |

Does this mean that people who have an MRI experience paranormal activity? A magnetic field around such a device has many hundreds times more electrical interference than the earth does on a brain.

Yes humans use very small electrical impulses in nerves, however the amount of electricity is very negligible and hardly enough to be affected by the earth's relatively weak magnetic field.
I also find it slightly disturbing that you believe in the idea of psychics being real, or at least implied it in your question...You are correct in your theory that there is no such thing as paranormal activity but it isn't because it's explained by electrical impulses, but because it simply doesn't exist. Also, why are you scared of 3D printers? Those are also perfectly explicable through science.

I don't think psychics are real. I'd say all of them are charlatans. I meant to use 3d printing as an example that 100 years ago it could be been considered magic. So who knows with quantum computing some form of what I said could be true. |

I agree with you here, since the brain transmits signals through both chemical and electrical impulse, which means that any induced current would not affect the brain greatly, if at all. However, I'd find it interesting to do a thought experiment on a purely electrical nervous system.
When a wire is run through a magnetic field, an electric current is induced in the wire. However, inductance only occurs when you have an electromagnetic flux (which could be caused by fluctuations in a magnetic field) and a coil of wire instead of a straight wire. This means that any inducted current would have to be caused in the brain itself (assuming the brain is a coil of wire). Since the visual cortex is in the very back of the brain, it'd be feasible that if the brain were a conductor, electricity would focus in this area. However, this means that any ghost sightings would have to be very specific to polar orientation, I.E. you can only see ghosts while facing north, for example. This would also be a very consistent phenomenon.
Furthermore, because Earth's magnetic field is weakest at the equator and the Earth has very weak fluctuations in its magnetic field near the surface, this has negative correlation with ghost sightings: as the magnetic field gets weaker in this scenario, you'd expect ghost sightings to decrease. However, the opposite is obviously the case.
If inducted current due to magnetic field was indeed the cause for ghost sightings, then machines that use magnetic field to scan (MRIs, for example) would cause sightings quite reliably.
