Back in the day I used to go to a church sponsored school. I'm not saying that church and religon is bad, but we had some pretty stupid rules:

Harry Potter, Pokemon, Yu Gi Oh, and Magic were banned for being "Satanic". We had a chapel service every Wednesday morning where we were told that Pokemon and all that were used by Satan to lead us away from god (My friends and I later played Pokemon with our GBCs). One hapless kid was going through his cards when a teacher overreacted and tore them all in half. (Note I later called the teacher a bitch before I left for college)

We weren't allowed to celebrate Halloween because of it's Pagan background

No dances because thaat would give us false impressions. It turns out that the 'stricter' Catholic school down the street didn't care and let us come to their dances. The ban was revoked later.

We were banned from playing dodgeball because a kid got hurt (he was the teacher's son)

We were banned from playing team sports because it hurt kid's feelings to be picked last

We were forced to serve soup to the old people and act as waiters while the teachers did nothing but stand there. A friend and I hid in the bathroom until one of the hated teachers yelled at us to come out and work. The friend in question and I quote "Bitch why don't you do something?"

We really didn't have a science class because it didn't fit with the Bible. We actually did learn about the other stuff, just not genetics and evolution.

We had to learn cursive "Because that's what grown ups use in the real world."

We weren't allowed to swing too high on the swingset "Because we might hurt our selves or hurt a kid."

We still had to go to school, on snow days, in Nebraska where the weather can easily be a bitch

The teachers told us God would send us to hell for lying to them, and told a little girl that she wouldn't see her cat in heaven because animals don't have souls

No talking in halls, no climbing on playground equipment (then wtf is a jungle gym for?)

And there's a lot more of stuff to tell but there's too much. Did you guys have anything similar?

Not a lot of rules at my school, but jocks were given special privs. No crazy colored hair was allowed, unless it was a school color and only if you played for the team. Shorts and skirts had to be no shorter than 4 finger lengths, unless you were a cheerleader, tennis player, volleyball, etc. No piercings and shit like that. I hated all those rules and stuff cause I liked dying my hair and getting piercings.

I am a Christian... but I disagree with every one of those rules.

YOU CAN'T SWING "TO HIGH"? Are you kidding me? Children are supposed to get hurt, its how they experience and learn in the world. "YOU CAN'T READ TO FAST" because you'll hurt your eyes. Fucking nonsense.

The only rule that didn't make sense to me in elementary school was that if a student did something wrong, we were all punished for it and would often lead to all kids in that students class losing their recess. That really ticked me off because there was always a smart-ass kid that would do something stupid just to screw with the class.
I eventually threatened this one boy and he never did it again. That was a good day.

Wow that's a lot of stupid rules. I went to a private, Catholic school during middle school, and while it was strict at times, it was no where near that bad. They taught us evolution and stuff like that.
Off topic here but... It's kind of funny because my family isn't religious at all and neither am I (my mom was raised Catholic but she doesn't practice the religion). I consider myself atheist, so it was an interesting experience: going to mass every week, learning the religion, doing things like the rosary and prayers. It was a really good school though and those three years I went there were the happiest of my life.

As for stupid rules, if you talked when you weren't supposed to, the teacher made you write the definition of silence a certain number of times depending on how much you talked. Once I remember having to write it like 27 times lol, and once a friend had to do it like 400 times... xD Oh, and we had to clean up garbage that the homeless left around the church, and I remember getting in trouble for being overly enthusiastic about that. xD I got detention more than anyone else, like practically every day. Once I got detention for asking where to hand in a test. And once I got detention for trying to break up a fight. For detention you had to sit in a separate area from everyone else during lunch, and then you had to clean the lunchroom instead of being able to go outside. There was also this thing called "homework club" you had to go to if you didn't turn in your homework.

The public schools I went to were a lot more relaxed. I got detention only once in high school, and I didn't even show up, and no one cared lol.

Had no real stupid rules while growing up at school...went to public school, most of us had common sense not to do anything incredibly stupid... Was too lazy myself anyway to try anything xD

I remember a year or two ago there were very strict breakfast rules in the cafeteria. I got kicked out because they didn't like that I was eating candy I brought from home instead of their breakfast. They would wait until the bell rang and then claim we have 20 seconds to leave, and then proceeded to count every 3 seconds as 10.

Like Revenge said I found the punishing everybody for the bad deed of one to be ridiculous.

My Biology teacher would yell at us for being "Type-A" people and writing our name or the date on our paper before she said to.

The one thing I still remember that I found ridiculous was that the one day in 6th grade I forgot to wear a belt, the dean's secretary asked me why I didn't wear one. Why do you think? I forgot.

I really dislike our schoolboard's policies.

My high school had a bunch of rules i.e. no chewing gum, no non-school uniform, no littering, no swearing, no fighting, no makeup, no excessive hairstyles, no running in the corridors, etc. But they were only enforced by two teachers in the whole school.(Two ridiculously uptight teachers that everyone hated)
Other than those two teachers, nobody really cared about most of the rules.

Of course, the education-related rules were enforced by most teachers i.e. hand homework in on time, don't be late to class, don't skip school for a month, don't doodle all over work, etc, up until the last year though.(But in the last year, half the teachers just stopped caring)

And some kids even got away with attacking teachers, as long as that teacher wasn't the headmaster. It was especially easy to get away with it if a student punched one of the uptight teachers, as even the headmaster didn't like them. Heh.

Yeah, my school was ridiculously carefree. It was like a collective family, so getting kicked out was pretty rare.

In my middle school was absolutly lame the rules in place were messed up, you had to wait like 5 mins to get hot dinners and 10 mins for cold dinners and if you tried skipping the line, which I did regurlaly then you would get sent to the back also we could not take bags in the canteen nor could we put them in our allocated year areas :/.

In High school was the same problem with the lunch cues however depends on what year you were in they let you go first :/ and you could not refill your water bottles during classs hours even if it ran out and if you got caught you would have to wait 10 mins making you late for class and getting more in trouble and you couldn't even take your blazers off in summer time unless you paid for a shirt.
Sorry, but i dont accept any hackers as my cousins or friends.. :/-Vulture

Oh, that sounds pretty standard to me. It was the same in my primary and high school actually.

My school rules were mostly fine, just common sense. I found it annoying that we weren't allowed inside during break/lunch, but it wasn't very strongly enforced. I disagreed with the IT policy a fair bit, and got in trouble a few times for getting past their filters, but nothing too major.

Seems like everybody has their own story to tell xD. May be you are not going to feel so bad then. Pfft

We had to wear a uniform to the school everyday. Everybody has to wear the same standard color set by school. A dress pant, a tie, black leather shoes, and a dress shirt.

Hair has to be combed properly from the left side only and must had to use hair oil everyday.
They would literally check every students in the morning for hair oil, chopped fingernails, well polished shoes, and long hairs. Long hairs weren't allowed either. xD

No electronics were allowed in the school.

That's where i learned how to write in cursive Grin

The principle would literally beat us with a stick if we did any mistake. lol

If you didn't do your homework you would either get beat up by the principle or you would be on your knees outside the class. Pfft

Wasn't allowed to speak in "Nepalese". You had to speak in English while you were in schools's boundary. I didn't go to school in the U.S.
and so on.............LOL..:/

Ah Catholic School, my teachers used to tell us horror stories about how bad they are. Turns out they (the nuns/priests/teachers) were nicer than the teachers at my school. Or maybe they weren't allowed to beat people? Either way I would have killed to go there instead of my original school lol

Im sorry but I seriously lol'd at the combing your hair part
