 I downloaded Halo CE and a few maps like yoyorast island, bc_raceway, and with_whiteness.

What are some popular maps people normally play on?

Any ideas?

 Yoyorast Island and BC_Raceway are classical maps. As for With_Whiteness is by an untalented mapper named Gaigher. That map sucks as you can tell that he is a new map maker and released the map sometime around this year. So any maps from 2005 to 2010 with good ratings are the best maps to download and play.

But here is my team's first beta release of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker game's Windfall Island map. The second version of the map is much better and it progressed quite a lot, but hasn't been released out to public yet as it's still in beta stage. So if anyone wants to test out it, then let me know and please remember not to leak it out to Halomaps website or other public map making sites. Thanks.

 I'm guessing he is probably looking at Halo folder from My Documents>My Games where he was supposed to look from the C:\ drive>Program Files or x86 of that>Microsoft Games>Halo Custom Edition>maps.

Then make a new one and put custom maps into it and see if they will show up on the server list. Also if you want your default/stock maps back, then it would be better just to reinstall the game as you might've messed something up.
