So as most of you know there was a sort of halo film not to long ago with the release of "Halo Forward Unto Dawn" which I decided to watch again this week and it has just left me wondering.......
Do you guys think there will ever be a halo film ?? An official halo film though explaining EVERYTHING. Right from reach to the lastest game ?
Which leads me onto my next question. Can anyone explain the story line of halo in depth ?? I mean right from the insurgents > covenant arriving > ending up on halo etc.. basically the first halo game.....
and onwards.
I get especially confused at halo 4, after re watching the forward unto dawn the other day I watched the halo 4 cut scenes and it's just left me SO CONFUSED, all I know is *SPOILER* cortana died... *SPOILER*
So last part, what do you guys want to see happen in Halo 5 ?? I personally want it to be a quest to bring back cortana.
It would basically be a last effort of killing off the few halo rings left, in which MC would be missing cortana, but as they travel they find cortana has been fragmented every time she was put into the halo computers and they manage to recover enough of her to make her into a real person, they seemed to hint at this in halo 4. something with people being AI or something. but any way Cortana becomes Human or at least a humanish AI bla bla bla.
And before you criticise, I want this because Cortana was basically part of MC and when she died so did part of him, so they should totally bring her back or like download MC into an AI.

There were serious plans for an official halo movie that would come along with a new game, but this was cancelled due to the cancelling of the game of Halo: Chronicles, which was replaced by ODST. Maybe if the TV series become a succes, they might make a movie based on that series.

The Forerunners built 12 Halos as a last option against the flood. After offensive bias detroyed 5 of them, only 7 remained. <100000 year skip>
In 2525, humanity makes first contact with the covenant. They try to negotiate, but this eventually ends up in a fight as a grunt shoots someone of the UNSC and a groop of brutes arrive. After 5 years of war, humanity reclaims planet Harvest, the place where they had first contact. Around 2552, the covenant discovers planet Reach; the closest human planet to earth. The UNSC along with their spartans try to defend it at all costs, but fail and reach is glassed. However, Dr. c.e halsey was able to escort humanitys last hope to the pillar of autumn before covenant took over; the most advanched human+forerunner AI ever created by humanity, cortana. The pillar of autumn, with spartan john 117 aboard, escapes into slipspace and is autupiloted to an unknown location, where they eventually discover the 4th Halo installment.
(halo 1) They discover that the covenant had tracked and followed them and the POA gets boarded, crashing into Halo. Master Chief, escorting cortana, along with the remaining POA crew drop on halo and later discover that the covenant believe that if the halos are fired, they will become gods. They have to stop them from activating halo. In Halos control room, cortana tells chief to save captain keys who is investigating a forerunner facility. As he arrives, he finds out that the covenant have accidently released the flood. Chief retrieves captain keyes' failsafe codes and cortana uses them to detonate the pillar of autumns engines, destroying halo and getting rid of the flood for now, but without having to fire the halo which would kill al sentinent life. Chief goes back to reach to save some spartans, then boards a covenant ship and finds out that the covenant have located earth.
(skipping odst, now halo 2) The covenant are on earth. The prophet of regret found a forerunner keyship and flees to an unknown location. As Miranda keyes and chief follow him, they discover that regret is heading to another halo installation. Chief assasinates him and jumps into the water to dodge a covenant class beam. Here he meets the Gravemind, leader of the flood, who tells him to seek the index together with an arbiter on a suicide mission, Thel Vadamee. Master chief is tped to high charity just to see it taken over by flood. Here he makes a jump towards the forerunner keyship which is being sent off, leaving cortana behind to prevent remote detonation so she can overload high charitys engines and destroy the halo if anything goes wrong. The arbiter arrives in the activation room, and with some help he manages to kill Tartarus the brute leader and stop the key from turning.
(halo 3) The 3rd prophet (the 2nd was killed by flood on high charity) , Truth, plans on activating the forerunner artifact located on earth that regret found. Unable to stop him, he activates it and opens a portal to the Forerunner safe haven for the rings: installation 00; The (lesser) ark. At the same time gravemind slipspace-teleports a covenant cruiser to earth, full of flood. While the elites, who are now seperated from the covenant because of their failure to protect the halo and regret, fight off the flood, Chief and the arbiter follow truth to the ark. Here, gravemind crashes high charity, a big ship and the covenants holy city, into the ark, releasing all the flood in it. Arby and chief kill truth and find out that the ark is making halo 04B: a replacement installation for the ring john destroyed. Chief heads to high charity to rescue cortana. After saving her from the graveminds nasty tentacles, she tells him that she can activate the halo 04B by using the Original halo's index which she still possessed. They decide to do this, killing all flood on the ark. Chief and arbiter manage to escape from the firing ring by jumping into a unsc ship, forward unto dawn, and make it do a slipcpace jump. While slipspacing, the portal is shaked apart (MENDICANT BIAS) by the firing halo ring, sending arby to earth, but chief's half of the ship to an unknown location.
(halo 4) 4 years, 7 motnhs and 10 days later cortana wakes chief because theyre boarded by covenant remnant (too long to explain; search on halo nation), bad elites. They discover that they are sucked into a gravity beam of a forerunner shield world (planet covered with a shield to prevent flood outbreaks): requiem. After crashing on the forerunner planet, cortana tells chief that she has been in service for more than 7 years, thus going rampant. Chief has to get off requiem and get her to halsey so she can fix her. They find out a UNSC ship, infinity, is entering the planet too. Chief and cortana follow the radio signals. They end up opening a cryptum and find out that a living forerunner, Ur-Didact, had manipulated the signals to get released (he was locked up cause he turned humans into ''robots'' to battle the flood, they didnt like that idea). Somewhere after this chief destorys the jamming structures of requiems gravity beam, making infinity free to leave the planet. The Didacts guadians, the composed prometheans, turn against chief as he tries to detonate the composer, a big forerunner thingy that didact uses to compose humans; suck up their ''ai'' matrix and turn them into ''robots'' to fight the flood. Didact is not amused of this and takes the composer on his ship. He flies to earth and composes new Phoenix. Chief, equipped with a tactical havoc nuke to destroy the composer, boards his ship and faces him. Didact owns him, but cortana, who split her rampant personalities into the composer's system to overload its shields, uses the system to control the hardlight bridge chief and didact are standing on. She uses the hardlight to tie didact's wrists. Chief plants a nade into his chest and didact falls off the bridge. Chief detonates the nuke in front of the composer. After the detonation, he finds out that cortana has saved him with her last powers, making a hardlight box around him. She then dies awww. Infinity takes him aboard.
In spartan ops, halsey is hunted by the unsc because she grouped with the elites seeking revenge and requiem gets sent into the sun. thats about all the interesting stuff there

The Forward unto down cinematics are based on an event that happened way earlier than the halo events.
I hope this cleared something up :D

ok so yea. In 2525, automatic ships were starting to disappear off harvest, UNSC decided to call in some marines, and catch what they thought were insurgents. Instead, it was a corvette manned by jackals. The team destroyed the ship however, another ship would show up shortly after investigating the other ships disappearance. The ship was manned by brutes. They would make first contact with humans, however they were mainly there to find the so called forerunner artifacts. So basic thing was, they tried to massacre them all etc. The population of harvest barely got off the world, though they lost many. A few months later, the UNSC sent a destroyer group to investigate. It consisted of two frigates and a destroyer. On leaving the slipspace, the covie battlegroup detected them. One super carrier, and numerous escorts. Within 30 secs, both UNSC frigates were destroyed, the destroyer heavily damaged. They manned to get into slipsapc but it took them 10 months to get back to human space and spread word of the aliens.

What is the relevance of the prophets?? I am confused as too why they are in the game.

The prophets or "san shyuum" is an alien species that pretty much created the covenant empire. They have the highest political rank and are protected by the elites but later decided to let the brutes protect them, causing the elites to seperate from the covenant, and eventually the fall of the covenant empire, so they affect a big part of halo's storyline. The hierachs, truth, mercy and regret, are blessed by the oracle (halo's monitor) and thus the most important and holy aliens in the covenant empire. They are the bauses.

Well, as we know, the librarian is sort of alive, although it's some sort of 'copy' of herself, And i think bornstellar makes eternal lasting, the other didact (didact split half his personality and power in him) is still allive. Good chance Ur-didact (the original didact from halo 4) sufvived that nade too. But pretty much all the other forerunners died at the firing of the halo array or during the war with the flood.

The whole reason the human covie war started, was when the prophets brought knowledge of the humans to the great oracle, it hailed them as the reclaimers, and the oracle tried to take the great forerunner dreadnought off to serve the humans, but, the prophets stopped them. I just go to a random halowiki page now and then and click every hyperlinked term i dont understand xD I havent read all the books yet so if you need any detailed descriptions of events that happened between the games you should ask odis
