My laptop's not working-- the hard drive is dead, less than a year after I got a new one put in it (the laptop's about 10 years old, so I guess such problems are expected). D:
This means I won't have my own personal computer for a while; how long that will last I can't yet say-- could be for a few days, or could be as long as a few weeks, and depends on if the laptop gets fixed. If the laptop doesn't get fixed, I might be able to get one of my dad's other old laptops and use that. I definitely won't be getting a new computer, as I can't afford it.
Because I won't have my own PC, I will not be able to use Xfire or Halo for a while. I might be able to stealthily install Halo on this PC I'm using now, but my usage would be limited. However, I will be staying fully active on the the ZA site. I have no intention of taking a leave of absence or anything like that. But I won't be on Xfire or Halo for a bit, and I made this topic to give you all a heads up as to why that is.

Sorry to hear that, Vlexis.
Hard Drive dying = the biggest loss in the computer's hardware system.
Graphics card, CPU, power supply, fans, coolers, motherboard, and RAM can all be replaced, but once the Hard Drive dies, it's most unlikely to be repaired and fully functional again and sucks too with loss of all the saved data.

Yeah, it sucks. This is the second time it's happened to this laptop, and a similar thing happened to my old computer several times (though it wasn't the hard drive every time with that computer, but the result was similar).
You'd think I'd have learned by now to back my stuff up, but I suck at getting around to that kind of thing and there was some music and stuff that was on the hard drive which I hadn't backed up on CDs or flash drives or anything... :|

Backing up to a portable external hard drive/passport hard drive is always useful.

The hard drive was still under warranty so I guess I can get it replaced. Don't know how long that will take though.
lol I forget how reliant I am on computers until I don't have one of my own to use.

Have you checked any other stores or online retailers?

Not yet. I'll probably only do that if it ends up being like completely out of stock forever, 'cause the hard drive's under warranty so I can get a new one to replace it from where it was bought from, and so I'd just have to pay for shipping it to them, rather than buy a new one.

If you're looking forward to online retailers, I would recommend either newegg or tigerdirect. Good price deals along with most of them being free shipping as well.

So I got a new hard drive, and will be attempting to replace the broken one with it soon. Hopefully nothing will explode.
Looking forward to playing Halo with you all again! (With capital letter tags for the first time!) ^v^
