What do you think is the most acceptable age diffrence when it comes to dating for teens & older pe[img]ople
If your older in lets say 40's is it wrong to date someone whos 20 something? Even though the person is of legal age its still seems like a to good to be true thing (he/she could be a gold digger)
but heres where it gets tricky as most people know most men dont really consider a pedophile to be a women unless the kid is lets say 13 or younger women predation is generally more accepted then a male pedophile (also why if your a male & sent to jail for this if your in the general population you WILL die)
but teenage girls sometimes in their 13's & 14's will wind up dating 16-20 year olds whos fault is it, the parents? The childs ? Or the males (this is for the women dating older men)
& whos fault is it when a 13 year old is dating a 20 year old? The womens (for younger boys dating older women)
But regardless teen wise dating I think 2 year diffrence the max for girls dating okder men
For guys im not sure to be fair 2 years?
Butya whats the age diffrence you think is ok for women dating older men and vise versa

im 21 an my hubby is 28... ment him wen i was 16 almost 17 witch is legal age for girls here. 18 for the guys.. an he was 24.. parents tried to break us up an put him in jail but the cops said since it was 2 weeks to my 17th bday there was nothing they could rlly do. but my mom approved of us going out at first but then 6months later changed her mind. lols but age shouldnt really matter.. i mean if ur in love an the person is in love with u.. u shouldnt try an stop it. cuss the more someone tried the more that person wants to be with that person. i mean if ur above the age 17/18 shouldnt matter who u date..

I think age is often accepted as the measurement of maturity and experience, which is correlated but not necessarily a cause/effect. If we use the age standard I think for young people, under 18 the age gap should not be more than 1 grade level or 1 year. Because young people and teens develop SO QUICKLY and hormones and education are moving forward in leaps and bounds, a 14 year old can be VERY different from a 15 year old. So the younger a person is, the smaller the age gap needs to be.
For 20 somethings I think the age gap only matters if the couple, or one person in the relationship at least, is thinking about marriage/living together/starting a family. When BOTH people in the relationship are in it to have fun, the age really doesn't matter. It's when you want to settle down with someone that age/maturity/experience starts to matter. I think at this point, it is less about age and more about compatibility and an understanding of expectations and respect. If we equate that to age - for 20 somethings around 5 years, for 30 somethings the gap widens because once you hit your career stride, age stops to mean so much - so about 10 - 15.
After your 20s, once you hit 30s to 50s, the gap is more about caring for the other once you get to be old. Someone to grow old with. Who wants to be celebrating a 10 year wedding anniversary with one person in diapers and an oxygen tank while the other wants to go on a Caribbean Cruise? So I think the MAX you would want to gap at this age is like 10 - 15 years.
So essentially:
The younger the person, the smaller the gap.
When you're young and idealistic it is easy to feel like love is enough and that age doesn't matter. But once you hit the real world, it's undeniable. I married someone from a different generation all together. He grew up with video games and grew up with "playing outside." So age differences DO matter - they're not DEAL BREAKERS, but they do matter.
As for underage/overage relationships - I think you gotta stay legal at all costs. Don't even get me started on pedophiles and nonconsenting issues - but for the normal stuff like she's 15 he's 18 or whatever - that stuff will still HAUNT you. A guy at my high school was 18 as a senior and dated a freshman. Consenting, got busted, now's hes a registered sex offender for indecency with a child and isn't even allowed on his own children's campus to pick them up from school cause he's not allowed within 500 feet of schools or something like that. 10 years have passed since he dated that girl and it still fucks up his life.

well, my dad is 7 years older than my mom, but they are both over 50 at this point. i guess it really depends on how each person feels/cares for/about the other

I'm just saying my opinion, not backing it up as I have no time.
Girls 15 and under should not be allowed to date guy's that are 18+.
Same for guy's.
Really, I wish dating were illegal while enrolled in a school, but that would never happen as people prefer the "freedom" of dating over being safe and not ruining your life.

I'm sure there are some instances in which a 13yr old and an 18yr old can be happy together and everything, but I really don't think it is right. If I had a daughter or son who was that young and dating someone 18+ I would feel very uncomfortable about it. Would I allow it? I don't know, never been in that situation.
If you're happy about the relationship and it's a healthy relationship then I don't really see a problem with it. The couple should be aware though that they will get a lot of criticism from other individuals.
Let's say you are 20 and are dating someone who is 13 or 14. What do you talk about when you see each other? What I was interested in and my mental capacities are vastly different from age 13 to the age I am now, 23. I feel like it would be hard to connect with someone that much younger in that stage of life. That's just how I feel about it.
Age, in the end, is just a number. When couples say they are 40 and 47 it is so bad and perfectly acceptable, but when you are 15 and 22, it sounds very odd, but if you are happy and the relationship is healthy, (< key word there) go for it.

What Code said. It's like my views in the other debates - we have to consider how much harm something is doing. Homosexuality, for example, does no harm as far as I can see. If a 14 year old and an 18 year old are in a relationship and it's consensual and they're both happy with it then who's being harmed? No one, as far as I can see. So as long as it's consensual and both people are fit to make that decision and neither is 'using' anyone, what's the problem? It's our own moral view that makes it weird. And a few hundred years ago, these were moral views which didn't exist and it was perfectly normal to marry young girls. Romeo was 16 and Juliet was 13.
The part where it starts getting dodgy is paedophilia (which refers to pre-pubescent children, not underage teenagers) because even in the unlikely circumstance that both people are consenting and happy, I don't think a child is fit to make that decision.
Aside from that, I don't see a problem with an age difference. And as for adults, my friend's mum is about 30 years younger than his dad and no one really cares about it.

Age differences are fine in most instances except that under the age of 18, there are many factors which cause 16 year olds to become much more mature than 13 year olds.
The only real issue with age difference is that if a 20 year old woman married a 60 year old man and they had a child, the child could lose his/her father at a young age. That could be psychologically damaging to the child in a lot of ways. |

i dont have any problem if the girl is lets say 14 and the man is 24 if they love each other lettem love each other lol
the only thing i wouldnt tollerate is if the girl is 10 and the guy is 30 or above.
my gf is 16 and im 17 so thats no big differnce(idk why i just said this lmao)

Well, here is my current exp. I met my now exwife when I was 21. She was 27. 6 year age difference. I married her when i was 25 and I decided to divorce her when I was 30. I first dated a 45 year old one year after my divorce which would make me 31 at the time. 14 years age difference. She was gorgeous. She honestly looked no older than 30. Her problem was she felt I was to young and talked about it to much so I decided to end it. Lasted about 3 months. Next I dated a 26 year old when I was 32. Now 6 years younger than me this time. Oh boy  . Acted like she was still a teenager with a 3 year old son on top of it all. Lasted 2 months. In my opinion from this experience keep it between 5-8 years if you can help it. |

Go to jail? Isn't that ilegal? ._. In my country, if a 18+ man have sex with a 13- girl, he goes to jail. And I dont really think that a 13 girl will date or have sex with an older man unless its a rape or she will get anything because of that.(Money or w/e) and how Herc said, the guy must be sick minded
