There another reason why everyone likes him " one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind " This is the best all time phrase and will be spoken through out the ages. Plus first man on the moon is a big deal.

He represent the American dream - the Human dream - to find out what's out there. He is more than a pilot, he represents the ambition and potential of mankind to achieve great things. Being the first of our kind to set foot on land besides Earth - what an enormous achievement.
