 shields or not?

with them, take the 24 sniper:

can 1 shot kill if aim is at apx 75%, so an avg of 18 kills.
with the pistol, you could at bests kill with 3 shots, but thats point blank, odds are you will need 4-5. assume 5 at 75% aswell and you get 14.4 (but could get up to 18 assuming real gaming scenario).

without shields, go pistol:

still assume 75%, 1-2 shot kill, so between 36 & 72 baseline with 2 shoting it.

with the sniper at 24, still 1 shot kill with 75% aim but only 24 rounds limit kill count at best to 18. (assuming 75%).

 Well if it's only one...which is almost impossible unless someone takes your weapon and you only have 1 weapon...

I would choose the pistol.

Think about it, in real life, which one would you actually choose?
Pistol(96) or Sniper(24)? Get me? ;P

 Pistol all the way. you have a better chance of surviving in a tricky situation due to more bullets being fired and you can get more kills.

 I change my mind I want a sniper rifle because of the ratio of kills possible to ammo available. I am going to assume shields. if no shields i keep same choice.
