Canada. It was the first country to be completely annhilated of human life. It's a frozen wasteland, almost the same as America. The only difference is there are human survivors in America. They are spread out and struggling, but hey what do you expect? The American government is still intact after fortifying Washington D.C., or what's left of it anyways. Just out side of D.C. is a no man's land. They have it guarded 24/7 by automated turrents and everything. No one has made it in or out alive, but I plan on changing that.
Besides, thats a couple weeks journey from here.
I'm so tired, but I can't stop walking. I can't rest till morning.
The sun slowly slips from view as a seemingly damaged moon glows in the sky. A cry in the distantance can be heard, the sound of a wolf's howl being mixed in with the throatal sounds of gurggling blood.
Infected wolves. Nasty beasts. They are viciously fast and run nonstop at the mear scent of pray. This is why I can't stop, they've been following me for two weeks. In other words, no rest for two weeks. Enough is enough. I drop my bag and pull out the blood spattered machettes. I wait a few minutes, the silence is nerve racking. Soon I can hear the garbled growls behind the sound of think infected blood, and the paws disturbing the fresh, soft snow. By the sounds I can tell there is at least five, a good pack.
As they came into view they came to a slow pace and began to slowly move around me, making a circle. They obviously haven't been directly infected, they've just been feeding off of infected flesh. Otherwise they'd be completely mindless and violent, striking at the first moment. My lucky day.
I raised my blades in challenge to the obvious pack leader, then they began their attack. It was a blur of motion, my body functioning, my mind watching. The first attack came from behind, which I countered with a quick spin around and a slash of the throat. I spun back around and focused on the other four. Better to stay on the defensive on this fight. One wrong offensive move and it all could be over for me. Two attacked this time. I kicked the first one to the side to allow myself some time as I made a large pair of scissors out of my blades and chopped the head off the other wolf. The first reapproached enraged and leaped viciously, shoving me to the ground. I dropped my blades and grabbed in by the throat, stopping any infected blood from escaping it's throat. I kept my mouth shut to keep any saliva or anything from getting inside of me. One infected bacteria could make me one of them, and I wasn't ready to make that risk. It then began to claw at me once I disabled it's ability to bite me. I proceded to put my feet together and kick it off.
I rolled over onto my stomach, grabbing the blades, and got up on my feet. As the one tried to recover from the kick I leaped onto it, sinking both blades into it. I pulled them out once it was dead, watching the last three. No doubt the leader would wait to go last, or attempt to go for the kill at the right moment. I was right. The two beside it launched at me, mouths agape, going for the bite. They were both haulted as the blades penetrated through the back of their skulls, making a hollow echo emit from their mouths.
I freed my blades and the last wolf made its go. It pushed me to the ground, causing me to lose my blades, and I quickly shoved it off. I jumped up and rushed it as it recovered. It attempted to bite me, and I grabbed it by the lower jaw. I could feel the muscle in my left arm tense, and hear my biomechanical right arm hiss slightly with the addition of strength to it. I quickly yanked the lower jaw and it came lose, the wolf choked out noises of pain as it's black tounge became visable without the lower jaw hiding it. I proceded to use the jaw as a weapon, and bashed the wolf across the head with it until it was dead, leaving a gorey mess of blood, skull fragments, and semi rotted brain matter.
I built a camp fire with matches and some wood I was carrying. I took out a pot and boiled down a ton of snow into water, and cleaned the diseased blood off my hands in the scolding water.
I slept well that night.
