Herc, I don't recommend using ComboFix unless you get cleared for it on BleepingComputer forums. I know that a lot of people use that tool, but ComboFix is extremely powerful and anything from CD burning programs or anti virus software can mess up the computer. It's not always the case, but ComboFix has been known to cause huge problems to the OS of a computer. I know this because I ran ComboFix once and it completely destroyed my old laptop.
If you already used it and it worked, good for you, but just wanted to give the warning out.
I'd recommend first to just run AdwCleaner and Junkware Removal Tool. If the problem still persists after that, perhaps then run ComboFix.
(My oldest brother is a computer software programmer and former IT tech. I know a thing or two about computers.) |

Thanks for the tip. I'm not gonna use it. Something is linked from the website to my Firefox explorer and can't find it. Nothing on my computer causing it. I may try a different browser. I have IE9 but is no good for posting pics and SS at this website. Doesn't five me the option to copy image locations. |

Combofix only restores initial settings for explorer, the tcp/ip stack, and Microsoft programs. however if also is good at hunting out hidden malware. However if combofix disables your machine odd's are your install was fried anyways. and after-all its only software, which is all replaceable. and if you would like to talk over it all, consider i AM an IT tech. |

Nah man I wasn't doubting your skills, I've just had a couple of bad run ins with CF and was just giving out a precaution, I just prefer using CF as a last resort. |

Just install Adblock Plus addon on your web browsers guys. I use it and it blocks annoying ads from Youtube too. And I never had to deal with any pop ups from this website either.
