I think the amount of money made by the entertainment industry is appalling. I've never seen a study on it or anything - so I'm talking out of my ass really - but I bet that the US spends more money on entertainment than we do on education. I mean - idiots like Kesha make more money than teachers? How is this possible? How is it that a girl with no morality can not only influence our kids with lyrics about running up credit card bills she can't pay for just to go out at night to get shit faced, while teachers that spend 8 hours a day caring for and educating our children make pennies?
Historically - bards, artists, poets - lived lives of poverty. They were lower class citizens. There are exceptions to every rule of course, and many were only artists because they moonlit at such. Other's paid their dues and eventually found the fame and fortune they worked hard for. But today? Its too shameful to even describe. LOL! I think they should be thankful for fans that appreciate their work more than they appreciate the money.
I think they should all give a bunch of their music away for free. I"m not paying anyone to listen to them rant about their sad lives or pleasure me with the love story, etc etc etc. IF they want me to hear it - then give it to me for free, LOL! I'm flexible on this, though - i mean - concerts aren't free to produce, neither is an album, but once it's paid for and mouths are fed - well then, what is it that we're still paying for?

It's not just big artists. It's also starting artists. Indie game developers are affected too. A lot of pirates don't care who they're pirating from. A lot of artists are not greedy at all and only want to survive. And yet they get their work pirated plenty. :/
Example: Wolfire. Great people, they run Humble Indie. And they're an indie studio. You don't even want to begin to imagine how many pirates there are just posting on the forums. And that's probably about 2% of all the pirates. (Not many pirates are stupid enough to ask for support on the forums run by the devs they 'stole' from)
There are a lot of artists who just want to survive and gain at least a bit of profit. (Everybody wants leftover money)
And yet a lot of pirates still pirate their work. Remember, this does not just affect the rich artists. Look further than the big guys.

Every single person counts. That's what makes us human. Stop being ignorant people.
Smart people are not smart. They are just not ignorant. |

The thing about the Humble Bundle is that you can pay whatever you like for it. It doesn't need to be pirated. Do you know the average amount paid for the latest Humble Bundle (eBooks) was? $14.28. Clearly there are still enough generous people out there.

Exploitation will be everywhere, no matter what it may be. Ultimately, I feel that the government is trying to suppress the way we live our lives. Don't wanna start another debate on that, just stating my opinion.
