I still think 21 is too high for an alcohol age limit...
But here's not the place. Maybe a future debate.

It's the idiot factor Hat, there's alot of High Schoolers that abuse it and don't drink how they are supposed to when they have zero tolerance. And that ruins it for the responsible people out there.

So clearly the 21 age limit isn't working.
On a side point, the US has one of the highest legal drinking ages in the world.

As a libertarian conservative, I don't care what you do, it's your body so do whatever you want with yourself. |

Any of you read the legalization program being voted on by colorado in november no well it suggests being regulated the same as alcohol it will be allowed to be smoked freely but you must be 21 to buy and a program is being attempted to find a way to give DUI's to people who are to high

I'm gonna put it simply here Alcohol and Tobacco have worse effects on your bodies ALSO legalizing weed wouldn't make many more people use it in fact it may be less because MANY of those who use marijuana smoke it because they want to be against the system once it's legalized their supporting the system and they don't want it also marijuana doesn't actually cause many if any bad effects on the mind but in order to get your high as with all other drugs you have to take more because homeostasis sets in going off of it would at the worst make you a little lazy due to lack of serotonin

And btw I would not legalize any other drugs because the other existing drugs do have very bad effects on the body the worst weed could do is mess up your lungs from smoking and in that case you can just make edibles

marijuana isn't so bad?
this is what my health prof said- on puff of cigarettes destroys 10,000 lung cells, while same puff of marijuana destroys 30,000 lung cells. this is one puff not one cigarette or one pack. lol.
marijuana does 3 times damage to your lungs that cigarettes.

I really don't think that the harm caused by other substances should be used to judge whether another harmful substance should be legalised. I watched a documentary in which a scientist said that if alcohol had been discovered in more recent years, it would have been illegal from the start.
Perhaps Cannabis doesn't have as profound physical effects as those of tobacco and alcohol, but that's not to say it isn't dangerous and shouldn't be considered a threat to public health.
People can have serious mental problems or breakdowns due to cannabis (for example developing schizophrenia), and we don't want to expose people, who perhaps aren't mature enough to make an informed and intelligent decision, to a potentially damaging substance. Surely the government wouldn't want to be seen to advocate use of such a substance? It would be like saying, "oh weed isn't bad - get high" - or at least that is what people would read from it.

Here are the real truths everyone:
-Marijuana is only illegal because of capitalism, also of how society is, it wouldn't fit in good, we need to wait until we change as a whole.
-Schizophrenia is just a form of way people think and feel (behavior) that we do not understand.
Example: Melancholia used to be the label doctors would put on people in the category of all forms of sadness and unhappiness which is now known as bi-polar disorder. Do you see where I'm coming from? So melancholia can be example next to schizophrenia. So schizophrenia can be a behavior disorder of people that we do not understand. I hope you guys understand what I'm trying to say :/

I don't really understand that.
Isn't schizophrenia hallucinations and multiple personalities and such? I feel like what you're saying fits more in with autism, but eh, getting sidetracked here.
Um, if I'm remembering the segment on drugs in health correctly, marijuana causes more harm to the lungs than cigarettes does, but people believe it isn't as harmful because some smokers smoke several cigarettes a day whereas marijuana users don't smoke it quite as often (Run on sentences >.<)
Did you know that the top users of medical marijuana are young adult men who suffer from 'chronic pain'?

If we need to change before we can legalise marijuana, legalising marijuana would bring us closer to the change in society anyways.
And schizophrenia may just be a label for a condition but that doesn't make the condition any less real.

I've never heard the schizo thing, but my ex suffered from schizo (hearing voices, not multiple personalities), and the smoking was the only non-pharm way to make the voices go away. So I tend to disagree that smoking MJ causes schizo.
Also, I've never heard that MJ causes more lung harm than cigs.

Yeah because there are five sub categories of schizophrenia, (paranoid, disorganized, catatonic, undifferentiated or residual).
Well Star, marijuana can increase the chances of a person to develop a type a schizophrenia, mostly paranoid, but remember, we still don't really understand the people, we push them out of society, telling them for example:that they are crazy and a danger to society, and needed to be removed and put away in a safe place (hospital, prison, take meds, etc.). No, that's messed up, but that's another discussion.
And yes it's true, marijuana DOES NOT cause more lung damage than cigarettes.
-Marijuana: 400 chemicals, I don't know how many chemicals exactly that really are carcinogenic, maybe none. Also, there has been no death in human history of an overdose, diseases, or cancer directly linking to marijuana.
-Cigarette: 4000 chemicals, 51 known as carcinogenic (anything that causes cancer directly)
I'm glad to be in this clan, we can all discuss maturely, unlike most places -.- Thank you guys

Well I can understand the paranoid schizo. Back when I was a smoker it made me very very paranoid, which is why I quit.

I'm a daily smoker, but I'm very responsible and intelligent.
It does make me paranoid, but I like it though. Make me be a step ahead of any possible threats or problems, and always analyzing my surroundings every second. |
