I am agnostic athiest. If you do not know what it is some one who does not believe any deity exists, but does not deny it as a possibility . If something happens all of a sudden that proves God does exist, then I will start believing and going to church and being a good little boy, but until then, fuck it.

I like the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy view on God, in regards to the Babelfish:
"Now it is such a bizarrely improbable coincidence that anything so mindbogglingly useful could evolve purely by chance that some thinkers have chosen to see it as a final and clinching proof of the non-existence of God. The argument goes something like this:
'I refuse to prove that I exist,' says God, 'for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing.'
'But,' says man, "the Babel fish is a dead giveaway, isn't it? It could not have evolved by chance, and so proves you do exist. And so therefore, by your own argument, you don't. QED.'
'Oh dear,' says God, 'I hadn't thought of that,' and promptly vanishes in a puff of logic.
'Oh, that was easy,' says man, and for an encore goes on to prove that black is white, and gets killed on the next zebra crossing.
Most leading theologians claim that this argument is a load of dingo's kidneys. But this did not stop Oolon Colluphid making a small fortune when he used it as the central theme for his best selling book, Well That About Wraps It Up for God. Meanwhile the poor Babel fish, by effectively removing all barriers to communication between different cultures and races, has caused more and bloodier wars than anything else in the history of creation."
In other words, I can hypothesize that there is no God. My statement is backed by the sole fact that there has never been any sort of proof of said entity. No one has ever had any sort of sensory perception of God. No one has ever seen, heard, tasted, smelt, or felt God. Therefore, according to empirical, testable, demonstratable protocol, science says that God does not exist. As a man who firmly believes in science, I'm gonna go with scientific protocol.

Based on everyones scientific view points though....I would say luck does not exist. If luck, God, freak accidents do not exist...How do you explain some of the things that go wrong. Say for instance the guy that got ran over by a semi and split in two and still lived? You can't base everything on science...sorry
Or people who get struck by lightning and still live?

Perhaps. Okay, I'll humor you. Say this God character does exist. If he's really as great as everyone makes him out to be, and has complete control of everything like he's supposed to, then why in the hell does he make people get ripped in half by semi trucks and struck by lightning in the first place? Aren't we all supposed to be "God's children?" Isn't God supposed to love all people unconditionally? Apparently not. So let me put it another say. Suppose this God character does exist. If he does, he's a liar, an arrogant bastard, a self centered uppity prick. All in which basically eliminates the entire point of his existence.
And by the way, I don't believe in luck, either.

I can indeed base everything on science. And maths. If a guy splits in two and lives well that's incredibly lucky. Probably most of his vital organs were intact. Then again, maybe people around the world split in two and die. People get struck by lightning but that's not always fatal. Getting struck by lightning in the first place is pretty unlucky.
There will always be a good amount of 'freak' accidents and incredible things like this because of the amount of stuff that goes on around the world. A thousand people get hit by an RPG and one survives - no-one really thinks about the nine hundred and ninety-nine who died. It's statistics.

That's a great quote, Buck. I'm glad the Babelfish doesn't exist ... crazy paradoxes. :O
Also, nice statistics Hat. I was just about to post that in reply to Dudeman! :)

If he does exist, why is there AIDS? Cancer? Mental Disorders? As Buck said, if he is real, he is an asshole. Any one who creates stuff like that needs to go to hell. Yes, I just said that if God is real, he needs to go to hell. One of the 10 commandments is thou shalt not kill. If he is real, why create diseases that kill people? Why let people get hit by semi-trucks? Why does he let horrible things happen to people if he is all powerful? I can tell you why. He most likely does not exist. And if he does, he is scum. Simple as that. |

That's another thing. The Ten Commandments. Which is exactly why I said he's an arrogant, self centered prick.
If you haven't, read through them sometime. I'm not going to pick apart each one of them here and turn this into a bash thread.

And as the old saying goes, I'd rather believe in God my whole life and find out he does not exist when I die than not believe in him and find out he does, when I die.

Sounds like a waste of a life. There are better and more productive things to believe in.

mmk now to address the big bang thing there is much more evidence then just the ever expanding universe as rediculously powerful telescopes have shown evidence supporting the theory now I personally have my own opinions about the big bang but whatever anyway to address the whole I'd rather believe in a god and be wrong then not or whatever I have many points FIRST of all it was thinking like that that kept us in the dark ages and caused us to have zero to no improvement in hundreds of years without that we could literally be WAAAAY past where we are now also IF there is a god I would like to think he's not so much of a prick as to say hey I know that you've been a good person all your life and stuff but because your didn't praise me every day of your life I'm going to send to to an eternal pit of fire it's not like Athiests are naturally assholes hell I know more religious assholes then I do athiests also I do not call it luck I call it chance physics states there is always a CHANCE something can happen as nothing yes I mean nothing is impossible only IMPROBABLE you landing in a good matter was neither a lucky incident or godly intervention it was simply you hitting at an angle of which you didn't receive enough force to cause serious damage now am I saying that no being is out there that could have helped us out that was then called a "god" by people no I personally think that if there is anything to be at one time known as a god it was simply an alien creature. I myself am an Atheist Hindu and believe that there is no god however embrace the ideals that religion would hold you up to because I still believe in being a good person now rant is over WAIT nvm one more thing I will also always think of god as the guy who could have created Pokemon but instead said nope Aids.

Do I think God exists? Yes, I do. Proof? Well, thats why its called a faith, isn't it? I have my own reasons for believing in God as does everyone else.
I don't like how some people are always trying to make a big argument (not you, ninja. You're awesome.) by trying to convert athiests and people of other religions. I think that we shouldn't butt into other peoples lives and try to tell them what they should believe.
I think the Bible is partially true. Only because it was written so long ago. Morals have changed since then. Things that were thought to be bad then, like homosexuality, are accepted today (and that could lead me into a whole 'nother rant about staying out of peoples business. Sheesh.)
If God doesn't exist, then science allows for A LOT of luck.

I can't make anyone beleive...
God? god? gods?
I'm a god, in a city of gods, Ruled by God.
He's the overseer, he gives us the choice to do right or wrong. It's all on you.
Some ask how can he be God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit?
God=Steam, Jesus=water, Holy Spirit=Ice... Just the same thing in a different form. What he is made of exactly? Polly love... You can beleive what you wanna... I will too. But that is what makes us human beings awesome!!!! We have a free will to be or do what we wanna. We all unique and when we come together, There is no stopping us. [ZÅ]

So if God sees everything, does that mean he watches you masturbate? |
