I was bored today, so I went around the internet looking for Halo: Combat Evolved mods. I was disappointed by the surprisingly small amount of mods that have been made, or at least mods that are multiplayer, client-sided, and graphically pleasing.
Among the few mods I found, I found the following: YouTube Video
The mod is actually still being developed, looks beautiful, and is available to the public (I think). In the description of the video, there is a link to a forum with the mod.

I'll just stick with my default maps for those stock maps. As for a really good "custom" map, I like maps like this with classical Halo 1 weapons and creativity for a balanced out gameplay: YouTube Video
Although too bad a lot of people still play the same old Blood Gulch, Sidewinder, Timberland, Ice Fields, and Danger Canyon 24/7 in Halo Custom Edition too..
Halo Custom Edition was only good when it was first launched in 2005 and ended around 2009 with the last Halo Custom Edition League: YouTube Video
Out of the 3000+ servers hosted back in the days in Halo Custom Edition, at least 2500 of them were on custom maps.

The mod that I posted was for Halo Combat Evolved, or at least that is what it says.
I have no interest in custom maps, except for hugeass, Extinction, or some others that are slipping my mind.
Also, I found this thread where a user modded his Halo: Combat Evolved.
Screenshots from his thread:
I asked him what he used and he said:
ENB series: http://enbdev.com/enbseries_generic_v0076.zip
Adds a bloom to the game but doesn't work sometimes. To install it just drag all the files to the halo directory. To uninstall just delete the new files. (C:/ProgramFilesx86/microsoft games/halo)
I'll post links to his maps if you guys want. They're just retextured.

That screenshot is from the Halo Anniversary, when they remade beaver creek. although it does change a lot as into formation of everything, the spartan and the graphics came from there, which is really neat.because i wouldnt mind playing an up to date graphics for halo 1 We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit. -Aristotle
Halo Revolution does work(as in, it's perfectly safe to use in multiplayer), but personally, I don't like the updated look. It's basically just a Halo 3/CMT-ified conversion mod. The aesthetics are a little mismatched though, and it lacks the charm of the original maps imo. Plus, only a few maps have been done so far, so the switch between maps is quite jarring.
There are actually quite a few redone maps that are hard to find since they usually got posted on random clans websites and don't show up with a general google search. When I was really halo active people on xfire would link me to maps they or someone else made and some of them are pretty well done.
For example I got these really cool blood gulch, danger canyon, and Gelphy maps that a random BFM member had made and posted on the BFM website that I would not have never known about until the link came my way on xfire.
Gallavant steals other people's work aka converting the tags from Halo Custom Edition into Halo full version. You can find the same exact weapon tags + HUD created by people in the Halomaps community. I just don't like how he doesn't credit the original creators of the tags he converted and just takes all the credit for himself..
Also here is something that's not a stolen work and is actually custom made: YouTube Video
This mod is called Halo: FTW. It was made by Tucker933 and Pepsi around 3 years ago. Even though it looks cool and an enjoyable video to watch, I'll just stick with my default HD graphics. :3

I thought everyone knew about the FTW maps
No, not everyone like the new people that started Halo 2 or 3 years ago. And also FTW mods > Gallavant's stolen work because Gallavant just replaced the models and textures from the stolen tags in Halo Custom Edition custom maps to put it in Halo full version. Halo: FTW was a custom texture mod made by Tucker933 and Pepsi as it was their own custom textured work.
The FTW mod is the most known halo mod its probably the first thing that pops up if you google halo mods lol.
I don't think Gallavant claims to have made any of the models he uses he just takes pieces he really likes from a bunch of different maps and puts them all together to create a new piece. Im not sure but I think he explains this in his video descriptions
