We already temp mute before issuing a perma-mute. I suppose it could in theory work like bans, giving us more flexibility, so perhaps slim will look into that when he gets the chance.
Otherwise, if they actually want to talk, it takes a matter of minutes to make an account and post an appeal.

It is their own fault that they got muted. Do the crime serve the time.. in this case forever

The way the muting system works at the moment is fairly simple. It's either temp (until the end of the game) or perma (forever). I agree that timed mutes would better, in the same way that we have timed bans, but as far as I understand that would involve Slim rewriting the mute command. If he's up for that then yes, I like the idea of timed mutes.
As for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc., is that referring to votemutes?

That is why we have appeals. Ppl just having a bad day can come in and agree to follow rules from now on and get an unban.
And we're no isolating players into insanity. They can communicate with others in RL, phone, Teamspeak, xfire, or in another server. Better yet, they can learn their lesson and appeal. So your comparison here is a BIG stretch, and I"m not buying it.
ZA is nothing if not forgiving. We've given more 2, 3, 4th chances than ANY OTHER CLAN out there. I think our Mute system works great.

I agree with Star and Martyr. The mute system is fine the way it is and people who get it perma, well, typically temp muted about several times first then leads up to that. I don't know anyone who really gets perma muted immediately. I have only votemuted once and that was because the person simply came in and began to use nothing but sexually explicit language. That is simply unacceptable in a game or in real life. I don't see your logic Jelly in your posting. Sorry. Just relaying some reality.
