....  Interested in astrophysics, but most of this is well over my head 
Wuts the whole deal about string theory as well? any relevance? (No clue here, just heard about it on pbs programming)
/admits i'm a total nub in the matter, and in halo, but that's another matter

String Theory does not directly tie in with the conservation of energy, except that it sort of sums up all of existence.. somewhat hard to explain. String Theory deals with the existence of gravity and its effect on all things in the universe (all things with mass have a gravitational pull). It basically takes the four forces of nature (Gravity, Electromagnetism, and the Strong and Weak nuclear forces) and tries to explain how they behave together.

There has been events where a black hole 'ate' another smaller black hole. Only faster than the speed of light can escape it's gravitational pull.
You needs lots of energy to create one. Earth can be made into a black hole if squished to the size of a marble... |

Once matter (and photons) reach the center of the black hole, it is impossible for them to escape. Even if they could travel at 5X the speed of light, they wouldn't be able to, by my understanding. But.. that is irrelevant in this thread. Perhaps I will create one where we can talk about the physics of black holes and the problems within them.

Interesting exception. First off It is not the center of the black hole, but the singularity. A black hole is a hole in space time, and when gravity goes to infinity that is the singularity where you can never reach it because time will infinitely slow down because the more gravity slower the time. This is possible to overcome for a spinning black hole. A spinning black hole, the singularity would be slightly offset by the spinning motion. Thus, IT IS THEORETICALLY POSSIBLE FOR ONE TO BYPASS THE BLACK HOLE! AND AVOID THE SINGULARITY! AND GET THROUGH THE BLACK HOLE WITH OUT THE INFINITE TIME! of course with such gravity, it would be many a year passing. But this makes travel through a black HOLE POSSIBLE!!!!!!!!! the question is, where do such black holes lead? WHERE DO THEY GO IF ANYWHERE?! so many questions, so little answers, god i wish i could go into space....

Ah yes voyager, hehe, i love writing on astronomy related issues. Well first off, it is unknown weather voyager has left the solar system. the problem is the bow shock. That is the end of solar particles, it was first thought to be like a boats crest, just a sudden drop off easily could tell and such. This was found not to be the case, it was much more gradual not even a shock but like a wave. So gradual that it is hard to say weather it has definitely left yet or not. In my own opinion, when it passes the oort cloud, it has definitely left the solar system. "Sometime before the year 2020, Voyager 1 will become the first spacecraft to cross the heliopause-the outer boundary of the vast region of space dominated by the solar wind and the sun's magnetic field-and reach interstellar space. In that sense, it can be said that the spacecraft will be able to sample what space is like beyond our solar system. (If we define the solar system as the sun and everything that primarily orbits the sun, however, Voyager 1 will remain within the confines of the solar system until it emerges from the Oort cloud in another 14,000 to 28,000 years)." Thus only in the minal sense will it have left the solar system.

There is my picture. The blue is a battery, the red is where the bearing is, and green is where the magnets are placed. I know it is subject to wearing out over time, but I figured pieces can be switched out.
That kind of wraps up the thread. Machines like this only give the appearance of free energy, there is always a catch.

I don't have a degree in Physics so am unfortunately blissfully ignorant, but could you please point out some examples of where he's "soo inaccurate"?
