The reasons are to do with the thought behind the music, partly. At the moment I'm listening to an eight minute song with all kinds of different instruments, modulations, style changes, chromatic notes and all kinds of moods which also happens to have a beautiful story about a guy who murders his girlfriend and has sex with her body before she comes back to life and they get married, obviously (http://www.youtub...urhzANQ_B0 if you're interested).
And I would say that is countless times better than four chords on an acoustic guitar with a teenager whining about lost love over the top. Or a drum beat and some bass with a guy rapping about his 'bitchez'.

So what you are basically saying is music that is more "complicated" means it's better?
And thanks for stereotyping a section of music... When do you ever see me saying: "I hate listening to music that sounds like guy screaming and clamming pieces of metals together." ? I understand and respect all music because it is a form of art being expressed through sound made from Homo sapiens...
Noooo, I'm not saying all pop or all rap is the same. I'm just saying that music with a bit of thought behind it is better than crap made to make money.
