Halo: How to get the best performance from the game!

My graphics card is a NVIDIA GeForce GT 240.
When im at the main menu or when map vote is up i get super crazy fps

I set mine all to the lowest res and settings and I was getting 400-500 fps. It looked so terrible though that i changed it back to what i normally have which is highest settings and i still get 60-140 fps (avg 100ish) depending on the amount of action occurring on the screen.

I got mine on the lowest resolution and my text looks ugly and bulky. I am wondering if there is a way to change it without changing the resolution or is there a mod where you can change your text?
I also need some advice on how to increase my fps. Ever since I changed to the lowest resolution, I get 40-50 fps. I get jealous when you guys get 100+ fps.  I exited everything that requires internet including xfire and spotify.

i get 100 fps while standing still in an open field, when i start playing (shooting, nading, getting in the middle of crowd, moving, etc) my fps drops to around 60-70ish. Also different maps will have slightly different fps rates. The reason most of these ppl get 300+ fps is because they have bought or own a very good graphics card for thier computer AND have dumbed down thier settings on their halo. With a good graphics card your computer gets to do less work and your fps will increase. My graphics card came with my computer and isnt very good but i can still increase my frame rate by changing the video settings the way I did.
I know thier is a way to change your text size and stuff but idk how to do it

i doubt u are from HPT or have played against the pros lol. These public servers we play in are nothing compared to how the real ppl do it

lol and dont forget its zombies, anyone can be good at zombies.... I get 1000+ fps on game start/ map load and when playing i get usually 200 - 300 + and since i have it on the lowest res i can have it on the high settings without getting fps lag. |

i forgot to say my comp is really crap.... only thing good on it is the graphics card lol... even then its a laptop one so its still crap... its a 1gb radeon. processor is only 2.13ghz intel pentium xD |

so yea since i made my res smaller i can have the high settings now and i still dont get fps lag
and i use to play with my mouse settings on 10-10 but now i have quite a good quality mouse i couldn't play on 10 cos it was way to sensitive and with 1 sensitivity it give me a more steady shot. |

To be honest. The resolution depends solely on your computer.
To make your FPS higher, you actually want to turn everything off or to the lowest possible standard.

aight guys another thing you can do: you know those 3 videos that play at the start of your halo, you can get rid of that.
Right click your halo icon on the desktop. Then click properties.
Their will be a line called target and will look like this: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Halo\halo.exe"
At the end of it press space and type -novideo so your command line should now look like:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Halo\halo.exe" -novideo
press ok and open halo, the 3 vids at the beginning will now be gone

^this may or may not help, although yes it is for colour you can also change your font and size of text in a similar way. should be worth having a look at. if you need help hit me up on xfire and ill do my best. |

Thanks for all these nifty tips, I know most of them. Hmm. You can put -useff in your Target Line on Halo, that will get rid of unnecessary fog. |
